Happiness

If you know me, you know my kids are my joy, my strength, and my happiness.  They are not the perfect kids, but I chose to see them as perfect and make sure to make them feel special. When life is bouncing me around, I look at them and regain energy and decide to be a sturdy ball and with a smile let life bounce me.

To fulfill your destiny, you don’t need what others have.  You need only what lies within. Joel Osteen

The second day of spring, I am enjoying the cold weather

I have realized two things about happiness, first, my happiness is not comparable with others; second and most importantly happiness is an individual choice, regardless what I am going through, I decide to be happy, smile and keep moving forward.  Here are my favorite quotes about happiness.

The greatest source of happiness is the ability to be grateful at all times. Zig Ziglar

Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow. It only saps today of its joy. Leo Buscaglia

I cannot change the weather, I chose to walk, breathe, and smile

Happiness is a choice, not a result.  Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy.  Your happiness will not come to you.  It can only come from you. Ralph Harlon.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.” Helen Keller

Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think.  Unknown

Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present. Jim Rohn

Happiness is the ability to move forward knowing the future will be better than the past.  Zig Ziglar

I would love to hear from you, how do you create happiness in the midst of your crazy life?  Remember “there is no key to happiness, the door is always open”. Mother Teresa

Feel free to share your favorite quotes on happiness with me, I would love that.

  1. This is such a good reminder not to pin your happiness on others. Their actions can make you happy or sad but what you do with those feelings is up to you!! And, how you approach the world is definitely a choice. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. You are absolutely right! We are in control of our own happiness, if someone you hang with is always bringing you down that is not their fault it is yours for sticking around and not communicating that they are in charge of they own happiness. Happiness is as much of a choice as it is a feeling!

  3. Sometimes I let everything get to me or my kids rice me insane! But we can control our happiness and I need to be more positive like this post thank u! So uplifting.

    • We are human and those days do happen, Tosha. Sometimes, I can be at my lowest point and I find a quote or meet someone and I regain my joy and positive energy.

  4. I’m trying to be in a happiness state more often. My kids do put me there but I drift out because of reality. Happiness is individual but I need to work a little harder to make it second nature.

    • Absolutely, Rose, the reality can hit us so hard. This is why I try to recall great moments I had and be thankful for them.

  5. Love this. You certainly do make your own happiness. Especially around children it’s lovely to show this rather than negativity. Great read.

  6. The weather outside can have an impact on how you feel. How you feel depends on yourself. You can feel gloomy since it cold, snowy, and yucky outside or despite the weather, you can choose to be happy. I’m not going to let this snow storm this weekend dictate my happiness. I’m going to have a good weekend.

    • Sometimes, the bad weather can be discouraging particularly for someone who can’t stand the cold like me. When I am confined inside, I try to create quality time with children.

  7. So many things can have an effect on the way we feel. I love Zig Ziglar’s quote about being grateful. When I look at all of the things God has blessed me with I am truly thankful and therefore happy.

  8. I think to create happiness you really have to decide to be happy every day and purposely look for the positive things each day has to offer. It can definitely be harder on some days than on others. I love your quotes too!

    • It does come from within, Dani. Sometimes, seating at the park, looking at the birds and the trees can bring pure joy and happiness.

  9. My favorite way is to stop and unplug with some family time. It’s hard to remain in a funk for me to be surrounded by he love of my family.

  10. “Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow. It only saps today of its joy. Leo Buscaglia”

    YESSSSS!!!!

This is something I am remembering now as we weather a small storm.

No matter how troubling times are, or how bountiful they are, I try to also remember “This too shall pass”. This reminds me that no matter how my life is now, whether life it fantastic or rough, this is only a season. It helps me to appreciate the good times, and helps me through the times of drought.

    <3 Stay happy, Mama!!
