Since Covid hit the world in March 2020, my life has been stagnant. I did not realize how these world tragic events were affecting me inside. All I did was work and give all to my patients. I was functioning on autopilot and forgot how to enjoy all the little things that fulfilled my life.
I needed to breathe again, and the only way to escape and regain my life was to travel and see the world. I shut down everything and took my family on a magical two weeks of vacation. We decided to tour Europe and visited 7 countries: London, Brussels, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and Paris.
It was such a healing experience for us, we returned home, tired but whole. Our hearts are filled with wanders, joy, and stories to tell for a lifetime. I must agree with Rumi’s quote that “travel brings power and love back into your life”.
If you feel stuck the way I did, allow me to share these quotes with the hope that they will inspire you and make you realize that traveling can be the escape you need.
“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.” Rachel Wolchin
“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.” Anaïs Nin
“The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself.” Wallace Stevens
“Travel as much, as far, and as long as you can. Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.” Unknown
“Travel, the best way to be lost and found at the same time”. Brenna Smith
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore”. Andre Gide
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes”. Marcel Proust
“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world”. Gustave Flaubert
“Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection.” Laurence Durrell
I hope these quotes have sparked your wanderlust and ignited your desire for an adventurous and fulfilling life. Take some time this summer to explore some unknown places.
Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris, June 2022“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his own, familiar pillow”. Lin Yutang
And remember: “Travel is never a matter of money, but of courage”. Paulo Coelho
Happy Summer 2022!
Wow, that trip looks like it must have been absolutely amazing! I hope you found the value you were seeking and that your inner peace lasted far longer than the trip. Those quotes certainly did inspire my wanderlust. Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience!

Amazing!! I hear you on feeling like you need to get away. We did a short trip locally a few weeks ago but I feel like I need to go again.
You seem had a great time on your vacation. I totally agree, being stuck for so long gives us this awful feeling, and one of the best ways is to have a quick escape. Travel gives us a fresh perspective on life!
Covid was soooo hard! I think carving out time to adventure again and a part of healing and recovering from it all. Well done, excellent self-care hunni!
It was, particularly seeing the effects of Covid as a nurse and losing some of my friends from it. Thank you!
