There’s something about these beautiful summer nights where you gather with family and friends to enjoy the sunset, listen to music, and of course enjoy great food. My shrimp bang bang was the highlight of our night.
I must, shrimp bang is the appetizer that I always get whenever I go to one of my favorite restaurants. I was determined to make them and I was so please when I was able to make them to perfection. Let me show you how I made them.
Shrimp Bang Bang
Ingredients
For the bang bang sauce
½ cup mayonnaise
3 tbsp sweet chili sauce
3 tsp sriracha sauce
2 tsp tabasco (optional)
1 lb raw shrimp
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder
1tps paprika
Salt and pepper
¾ cup cornstarch
Vegetable oil
Preparation
Start by making the bang bang sauce: In a bowl, add the mayonnaise, the chili sauce, the sriracha sauce, the tabasco sauce and set aside.
For the marinade, in a smaller bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
Stir together and pour over to shrimp and stir to coat.
Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and drain excess liquid. Coat the shrimp in cornstarch.
In a pan, add oil and heat to 375 degrees, fry the shrimp for about 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Transfer the fried shrimp into the mixing bowl and coat them with the bang bang sauce.
I served mine in a bed of arugula and I decorated it with the green onion

Haha, I love different versions of Bang Bang Shrimp but I love how simple and healthier yours seems to be. Plus you offer a bit more heat than most in your recipe so to this New Orleans Boy…that is Slap Ya Mamma GOOD!!!
I can’t cook without some heat. Although I must say, Eric, in March, I had so much good food when I visited New Orleans, the best!
