Reflecting on how difficult this year was for me, I decided to do something to recharge my soul and renew my mind this past September. The divorce battle is still ongoing, and the uncertainty of my future keeps creating fearful thoughts. Nevertheless, as the summer months are coming to an end; I needed to do something that could take me away from the day-to-day stress and give me the strength to embrace the upcoming changes in my life. I needed to do something to disconnect from reality. What better way to do that than traveling, so I did with my two daughters. All three of us always wanted to visit Amsterdam and we also wanted to go back to Paris and London; therefore, we embarked on a two-week European escape.
Our first stop was London.

We explored its charm one street at a time for four days. We could not live without experiencing the Borough market and trying some of the best food sellers in London. We soaked up the hustle and bustle of this historic market. We tried a little of everything, and we could not decide which one we liked the most.

We also went to the iconic London Eye and I must say that London looks amazing from above. The view was breathtaking.

We visited many free museums and art galleries and on our last day, we had afternoon tea at the Wallace Collection.

We took the Eurostar to go to our second stop which was Paris. Although Four days were not enough, we tried to do and see the best of what the City of Lights offers.

Our hotel was located 10 minutes walking distance from the Eifel Tower, so we enjoyed its beauty every night. We found some hidden cafes and we could not get enough delicious food and pastries.

On our last night, we took the metro to Montmartre for a romantic sunset view across Paris.

Amsterdam

We took the Eurostar one more time from la Gare du Nord to our final stop, Amsterdam. We loved everything about Amsterdam, from its beautiful brick buildings, majestic canals, open skyline, rich history, and relaxed, easy-going attitude toward life. Amsterdam stole our hearts and we did not want to leave.

I enjoyed these two weeks with my girls. It’s a blessing to keep having these blissful moments with my adult children, so I cherish them and don’t take them for granted. If you are going through a painful situation or difficult divorce journey like me, please lean on those who love you, and despite the pain, be open to creating new memories. Take the time to breathe and recharge your soul!
Love, Marjie

I’m glad that you mentioned how you got around. We used to travel as a family and it was no big deal. If I go back to Europe, and I won’t to, it will just be me (and maybe a grown child will want to tag along, maybe not), so i am paying attention to those kinds of details. Glad you got some awesome away time.
I am glad to, Rosey!
This is so so cool! I miss London so much, last time I’ve been was years ago, such a gorgeous city and so much to do and see, so much…
I can go back, right now, Karen!
I am sorry to hear your story. I am glad you bounced back. We all have battles to fight. In time, we will win all these.
We sure will!
