After getting these doughnut trays, I had no choice but to attempt to bake some doughnuts.  I always thought it was a long process and required a lot of work. I was pleasantly surprised to find this simple recipe, and I came up with delicious doughnuts that we indulge with tea.

Here is how I made them

Ingredients

2 cups of flour

1 ½ cups sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp ground allspice

½ tsp salt

1 egg lightly beaten

1 ¼ cup milk

2 tbs butter melted

2 tsp vanilla extract

Baking spray

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, spray the doughnut pan

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.  Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until well combined.

Spoon the batter in the doughnut pans, filling each one about ¾ full.  Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.  Allow to cool for 3 to 5 minutes, then tap the doughnuts out onto the serving plate.

I did not venture to make a glaze but I am definitely going to make more and stay tuned for my next doughnuts adventure recipe.

  1. I have a doughnut tray and I’ve never used it! We tend to make the dough and then fry it into little doughnut holes instead. This dough sounds delicious with those seasonings, though, so I will have to give this a try!
