Happiness at the park

Is your happiness conditioned to something?  Are you waiting to get a promotion at work to be happy?  Are you going to be happy only when your bank account is full or when you buy that house?  Are you waiting for a prince charming to bring you happiness?  If you are reading my post today, it’s time to realize that you have the key to your own happiness and only you can bring yourself to that state of pure joy that you are longing for.

Embracing the natural beauty at the park

For a very long time, I put my life on hold searching for happiness.  I was working so hard to achieve my goal that I stopped living.  One day, I went to the park with my younger daughter; I sat down, took a deep breath, and embraced the natural beauty around me.  Suddenly I felt an intense joy, how did I miss this magnificent place a few blocks from me.  That day I realized happiness is within me.   I could find joy wherever I go once I change the way I see things.  From that moment, I decided to live fully and enjoy everything I do.

If you can’t find joy and happiness in the present moment, I can guarantee, you will not find it at a later time.  Remember, in this present moment, you are alive and this time is the only one that counts.  You can’t change your past, and although you can plan for a better future, it is not certain.

Learn to find joy and love in all things. Smile more often, it will make you and people around you happier.  Show your appreciation, it will bring you joy to lift someone’s spirit.  Say thank you with your heart, when you express your gratitude, you will find a sense of fulfillment.  Change the way you view things and take time to enjoy your life and you will learn the true definition of happiness.

  1. Oh my gosh, this is so true. This is also one of those amazing things you can learn from children, too. They take pleasure in the most simple things. Loving the life that you’re in is so energizing!
    Thank you for sharing!

    • Thank you Tonya for your feedback. Sometimes, our children can be our greatest teachers. It does not take much to make them happy. Have a blessed holiday season. Marjie

  2. We do tend to take a lot of things for granted, right? I’d be happy when I’m finally on vacation or on the weekend….we don’t realize there are literally hundreds of things to be thankful for now. Like at the moment, I’m enjoying tea, listening to Christmas carols! Happy! I love reading posts like this on a Monday 🙂

    • Joline, I am glad you enjoyed reading my post. Mondays feel so special while sipping tea and listening to Christmas songs. Enjoy the moment Marjie.

  3. Such a wonderful reminder that we can all use. It’s so easy to get lost looking for that next thing. I have been trying to make sure to live in the moment, especially with my children, and see the happiness around me.

  4. What a perfect reminder during this stressful time. Though it’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life, I will try my best to find joy in the little things and to be present to all the good that surrounds me. Thanks for such an important post.

  5. What a beautiful post to stumble upon this morning! It is a wonderful reminder to take a moment of pause and reflection during this crazy holiday season and count your blessings and express gratitude!

    • Cassie, thanks for taking the time to read my post. I hope you realize your blessings and enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones. Please take time to enjoy life, pause, smile, and express your gratitude. Marjie.

  6. Very true about each person making their own happiness. Throughout my life I’ve encountered people who constantly stand in the way of their own happiness and on the contrary, people who remain happy despite facing obstacle after obstacle. It truly is a decision that’s made within!

    • Caitlin,
Thanks for your feedback. I remain positive, regardless the obstacles, we should still find a way to remain happy, learn from the challenges, and be better.

    • Olivia Stacey,
