August Recap – Stronger than ever

The highlight of August was a weekend spent in NJ with family and friends.  My daughter and I  were eager for our trip and we could not wait to have a great time with family and friends, and visit some familiar places.

Friday

We landed smoothly in NJ and drove around until it was time to check in at our hotel.  In the evening, we had dinner at one of my favorite spots.  Esquina Latina is just as good as it used to be when I lived in NJ.  We enjoyed some delicious Cuban dishes and took the dance floor to the sound of great salsa music.

Saturday

We spent the day with our family and friends.  Eating, dancing, reminiscing.  We had an amazing time as expected.

Sunday (supposedly our last day)

We had a lavish breakfast with some friends then headed to NYC for our tea-around-town experience.  We took the tour bus near Bryant Park between 5th and 6th Avenue and spent ninety minutes sipping tea, and eating sweets while sightseeing New York City.

The weekend was more than what we expected and we were satisfied and ready to fly back home.  Unfortunately, Jet Blue canceled our flight.  They rebooked us to another flight the next day out of La Guardia airport.  We were thankful for my brother-in-law who rescued us for the night.  On Monday morning, we drove two hours to NY to find out that our flight was canceled again.

When facing challenges, we have two choices, either we could be a victim of our circumstances or be an active agent of change.  I chose the latter.  Without thinking, I decided to rent a car and drive home.  It was a painful 20 hours of driving crossing seven states, but I did it.  How could I choose the option provided by Jet Blue to either stay in New Jersey until Friday or on Wednesday to fly to Porto Rico and then FL?

Going through the divorce process is painful.  These moments of doubt and uncertainty are overwhelming. The fear of not being able to handle life alone can leave you breathless. Fortunately, life has a way to remind us that we are stronger than our problems and we will always find a way.  Just like I had to push myself and drive across states to reach my home, I will be able to go over all the challenges of this divorce process.  I am determined to find my peace. From now, on, I will refill my cup with strength, gratitude, joy, and determination.  When life hits me, I will be well-prepared.

Now, I am open to embracing new experiences, challenges, and opportunities that will come my way.  I am ready to create new memories, I am stronger than ever.
