About to say goodbye to 2019

I am ready to say goodbye to 2019. But before doing so, I must take a look at the journey I took this year to appreciate all the stops I have made.  A lot has happened that I did not understand and did not see coming.  Would I say these events made me stronger or blessed?  I am choosing both.

I have realized a long time ago that our misfortunes cannot destroy us.  If we remain positive, they can only take us to a stronger and higher level. I can attest to this as I am here more tenacious and ready to welcome 2020.

From all that occurred in 2019, I am only taking with me good memories. My two words to live a fulfilled life in 2019 were to “think” and to “save”. I have learned mindful thinking, and I have failed to save. My impulsive spending habits had won, but I am aware of my problem, and I am still working on it.

I kept my desire to improve my public speaking skills.  I participated in two contests where I was placed second in both at the Division level. I will not stop; I will continue that journey and plan to compete again in 2020.

In April 2019, I am humbled to say that I was honored by the senior leadership of my company as one Optum superhero 2018. It was a major recognition and I will treasure those three days I spent in Las Vegas forever.

On April 28, it was bittersweet to attend my former university nursing Induction ceremony. I have held the Vice President position of my chapter Lambda Iota for the past six years. Relocating to Florida will make it difficult to fulfill my duties. I will remain a Sigma member and hopefully, I will find a Chapter at Large to join where I will continue to grow and learn alongside great nurse leaders.

My daughter graduated with a Bachelor in Speech and Hearing in May 2019.  I am so proud as she is already embarking on grad school adventure.

My family and I traveled to Sint Marteen in July, where we took the time to appreciate each other, and enjoy the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

No matter how difficult this year was, I remain committed to my blog. Every week, I kept posting something and was pleased to read all your comments.

Happy and Blessed Holiday Season

I hope you were able to make the most of 2019.  Regardless of the difficulties, remember there’s more ahead than what’s behind. Let’s shake it off and be ready to welcome the successful year of 2020.
