The Beauty of My Sunday Solo Dinner Ritual

Life after divorce means creating new routines, and for me, my Sunday solo dinner ritual has become one of the most beautiful parts of my life.

During the week, I work long hours, and when I am done, I am often too exhausted to cook a proper meal. I have tried meal prepping many times, but it has never truly worked for me. Sundays, however, are different. They are my sacred pause, no appointments, no rushing, no obligations, just time to slow down and reconnect with myself.

This past Sunday was no exception. I started my morning with a cup of coffee outside, enjoying one of those beautiful April mornings when the weather makes you feel nothing but gratitude. The gentle breeze, the warm sun, and the quiet stillness reminded me how important it is to appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

Later that morning, I went to church. I may not attend every Sunday, but whenever I do, I always seem to hear a message that speaks directly to my soul. It gives me peace, clarity, and a sense of hope that I so need.

After church, I came home, turned on my French playlist, and prepared a well-balanced meal: a fresh salad, white rice, spinach, and my honey-glazed salmon. This Sunday felt even more special because I added dessert to my menu, a delicious strawberry cake paired with coffee.

I set my table beautifully, dressed up, and sat down to enjoy my solo dinner. What may seem simple to others has become a peaceful and meaningful ritual for me, one that brings color, joy, and intention into my life.

Sometimes, the smallest moments create the deepest healing. In learning to enjoy my own company, I have discovered that solitude can be beautiful, nourishing, and full of grace.  If you are going through any difficult season, I know it can hurt. Life may not look the way you envisioned or planned, but now, you are the author of your story, and it is up to you to write something beautiful.

You have the power to turn your life into something meaningful and worth living. You can transform small, ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. Remember to pause, celebrate each milestone, and embrace every new moment of joy.

With love, Marjie
