I was looking for something simple and delicious to pair with my baked chicken for our Father’s Day dinner.

I decided to make creamy potatoes au gratin.  It was rich, creamy, and perfect for our small dinner.   For us, this is by far the best version of this dish and we enjoyed every bite.

Potatoes au gratin

Ingredients

6 large potatoes, scrubbed clean

4 slices of bacon

2 cups cream

1 cup of milk

¼ cup sour cream

¼ cup all-purpose flour

1 tbsp of butter

2 tsp salt

2 tsp pepper flakes

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic parmesan

1 tsp mustard powder

2 cup parmesan cheese

1 cup of mixed cheese

2 green onions, sliced thin

Cooking spray

Preparation

Lay the bacon in a cooling rack on a baking sheet and cook them for 15 minutes.  Remove them from the oven and place them on a plate.  Once they are cool, crumble into small pieces and set them aside.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Spray the baking dish with the cooking spray

Dice the potatoes (I cut them lengthwise, then create the dice)

Combine the milk and cream in a bowl.  Then add all the spice and the cup of mixed cheese, whisk together.  Add the potatoes to the mixture

Then add the bacon.

Mix well and transfer to the baking dish.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.  Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes.

Before serving, sprinkle the green onion, the parmesan cheese, and the butter cut into small pieces.

Return to the oven until the cheese is completely melted for about 5 minutes.

I hope all the great amazing fathers out there had a fabulous weekend.  May we all have a blessed week!

Xoxo, Marjie
