Motherhood Equals Happiness

My daughters, my joy, my happiness

As we are celebrating Mother’s Day tomorrow, I am so blessed to be a daughter, a mother, and a God-mother.

My mom

I can’t emphasize enough how blessed I am to have my mother in my life.  She is the true definition of love, caring, giving, and compassion.  Over the years, I have watched that woman push herself to raise my brothers and me.  Out of nothing, she gave us the best.  Until I became a mother, I never understood the sacrifices that my mom had made.

When I became a mother, happiness fell into place once they placed my daughter in my arms for the first time.  I began to experience pure emotions that I could not put into words.  That agonizing labor pain felt previously disappeared and was replaced by immense joy and satisfaction.  Watching that precious face and knowing that she was mine gave me a sense of fulfillment that I have never felt before.  I was smiling and crying as I transcended in that world where the only feeling allowed was pure joy, true connection between two souls.

My older daughter

My happiness doubled with the birth of my second daughter.  She had filled my life with just as much joy as the first one did.  I felt blessed beyond limits to have those two beautiful girls that I call my gifts from my God.  They are two amazing human beings with opposite personalities that continue to enhance my life.

My younger daughter

My God-daughter has been filling my life with love and joy as well for the past 4 years.  I am so grateful that my sister-in-law has chosen me.

My God-daughter

Motherhood is not perfect all the time as none of us has learned all the right skills.  We are just trying our best with love.  Our kids require time, they bring stress and worries.   There are days where we don’t know what to do.

In the end, I will not change all the sacrifices, all the sleepless nights, all the anxieties for anything.  I may not have seen the world, but my children are my world. To me, motherhood is the true definition of happiness.

I wish all the beautiful mothers, aunts, and god-mothers a Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day.

  1. What a beautiful post. I too am a mother (a new one at that!) and looking at my beautiful daughter always fills me with so much love and joy!! I love my little one so much. There is no such thing as the perfect mother but all mothers have the same goal. And that is to do everything in our power to love, teach, and protect our child 🙂 Have a lovely Mother’s Day

  2. Motherhood is the sacred mission every woman deserves. Because of that, Mother’s Day has become one of the most important events to honour motherhood. Your post is full of happiness and pride!

  3. Happy Mother’s Day to you as well! This is a beautiful tribute to those wonderful women in your life. My mother has been my rock for my whole life as well. And even though I have two young, crazy boys, I know just what you mean about the moment those littles are placed in your arms. And I am designated as my both of my nephews’ legal guardian in the event something happens to my sister and her husband, so I am basically their God Mother just without that title.

  4. That’s so great you have two wonderful daughters who love you, and you got to see the world from two entirely different perspectives, as they are so different. Motherhood is a beautiful thing.

  5. I know my daughter brings me joy and happiness. My mom, on the other hand, doesn’t, so I sort of agree and disagree. I think being a mother can definitely bring happiness, but it may not if children aren’t something you wanted.

  6. So beautiful and touching! Happy Mother’s Day to your mom Marjie. When growing up, I had two moms and I was so bitter about it. But right now, I can only acknowledge that I’m super blessed to have two moms. And I’m pampering them all this Mother’s Day.

  7. Happy Mother’s Day! This is so lovely. We are so blessed having the best moms. They deserve to be loved and respect.

  8. Aww beautiful post, being a mother is such an amazing blessing. I still sometimes can’t believe that I am my kids mum it just fills my heart with so my joy

  9. When you become a mother you realize just how many sacrifices we have to make. I am very appreciative of my mom (always have been, but even more now that I am a mom of two)

  10. True, when you became a mother all other things are secondary..You want everything the world can offer for your children. Amazing is the capability of a mother’s love. It is so powerful and moving.

    • I agree, Elizabeth, there’s a sense with fulfillment and completeness after I became a mother that I can’t put into words.
