My younger daughter, Yanah, loves banana bread, and we make it all the times.  Today, we decided to have it for our dessert with some ice-cream of course.  Any leftover will be her breakfast tomorrow morning.

If you have never made banana bread, I am sharing the best recipe ever with you. I hope you enjoy it and remember to share your thoughts with me.

Marjie’s Banana Bread

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature

2 large eggs

1/3  cup sliced almonds

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ginger powder

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 pinch of   salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a bowl mash the bananas with a fork. Mix in the milk and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until combined. Add dry ingredients, mixing just until flour disappears.

Add the almonds last

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Set aside to cool on a rack for 15 minutes. Remove bread from pan, invert onto rack and cool completely before slicing.

Enjoy.

  1. Banana bread is one of the few things I can successfully bake in the oven. I love your recipe because it has almonds! I will try this recipe this weekend. I know this is going to be my favorite Banana Bread recipe!

  2. OMG Can I just say, I can’t help but drool over the picture! Who would not love to taste this! I’ll be printing out your recipe so I can try making this out over the weekends.

  3. We love banana bread here! Although I put a lot of cinnamon in it, but never tried it with ginger and nutmeg before. I also don’t know why I never thought about having it with ice cream, but that sounds amazing!

  4. I don’t love bananas but I wouldn’t mind them in bread! The nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger must make it suoper yummy. And I love that it has almonds too.
