Social distancing to protect ourselves and each other has become our norm for the past few weeks. I have to bring a sense of normalcy to my daughter’s life. She can’t go to school, she can’t see her friends, and she’s adjusting to her homeschooling.
Last Saturday, I made it special for her and created a tea party for her.
She chose what she wanted at her party and surprised me with her cooking skills.
Her cinnamon scones were perfect to me and I could not help but share with you.
2 ¼ cups of flour
1 stick butter
½ cup of heavy cream
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup of white sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
Egg wash and brown sugar
Preheat the oven at 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the butter to the flour mixture, use a hand mixer, mix until the butter is distributed evenly throughout the dry ingredients
In a smaller bowl, whisk the heavy cream, the vanilla. the cinnamon, and the egg. Add it to the dry mixture and mix until the dough comes together.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured board and shape into a rectangle.
Cut the scones into desired shapes.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the scones. Brush them with the egg wash (1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp of water).
Sprinkle the brown sugar over the scones.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
My daughter has cut her scones into large triangles but, it’s her art, her tea party, and that’s all that matters.
I hope you find something joyful to do with your kids during the quarantine time and make it all about them.
I really like cinnamon. I will make sure to make this recipe and see how it turns out. Now that we all stay home it’s the perfect time to try out new things.

So your Cinnamon scones just gave me a great flashback memory!
I had never really eaten scones until Darcee & I were in Cardiff, Wales and had an official tea time party at a small café. I thought it was going to be some dainty small meal that would leave me hungry and my mouth bored of the British & Welsh style food. But boy was I wrong.
There was tons of sandwiches, and cakes, and pie, and scones! I left needing to unbuckle my belt a loop!
So back to your recipe…these cinnamon scones look amazing! I love cinnamon and I can imagine them with cinnamon butter or honey all over them but if not the ingredients you use would make them taste great by themselves!
Woww. these looks so delicious. Loved the photographs. Will definitely try them after this quarantine period

We love tea parties. There’s a place in NYC that we go to called Alice’s Tea Cup. Always have a wonderful time there.

These scones looks pretty and delicious with cup of tea.
I like the idea of adding cinnamon to scones, I can imagine the spice gives a delicate aroma to them. It definitely works with a cup of tea.
Those scones look delicious perfect for high tea indeed.
I’ve always been a little bit leery of making scones. It seems that I’m always open to meeting the Dell and they end up kind of thick. I love that you included pictures in your recipes because it helps me understand what the product should look like when I’m working with it! Also I can’t wait to try these because the cinnamon looks delicious!
I’ve decided to try and make these tonight. My husband loves scones and this seems easy enough to follow along with
These cinnamon scones look so delicious, I want to try preparing them as well. I hope when I prepare them they taste really good.
