Spring is almost here, and it is all about the colors which is one of the reasons I love this beautiful season.  It brings hope, new joy, and new beginnings.

My younger daughter is off from school and went to NJ to see her older sister.  It’s just my husband and me at home tonight.  He’s grilling some ribs and I wanted to have something colorful to pair with them.  I looked in my pantry and saw some tuna and some tricolor pasta which is all I need for a simple and delicious dish.

Baked Tricolor Pasta with Tuna

1 lb. of tricolor pasta

2 cans of tuna

2 tbs unsalted butter

1 small onion diced

3 cloves garlic minced

2 tbs flour

2 cups of warm milk

1 ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Salt, pepper, parsley flakes

Preparation

Fill a pan with water, bring to boil, add salt and add the pasta.  Cook according to package instructions.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, add garlic, the onions, and cook until translucent.  Add the flour. Stir together and cook it for about a minute.  While constantly stirring, slowly add the milk and cook it for about 4 to 5 minutes.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.  Add the tuna and the cheese and stir.  Add in the cooked and drained pasta and mix together until everything is well combined.

Transfer to the baked dish and sprinkle with more parmesan cheese and dried parsley.  Bake for 25 minutes.

Hope you had a peaceful Sunday, remember to share your thoughts with me.

  1. I always appreciate some well-cooked fish like this tuna you just made. Although I’ve never tried taking pasta and fish dishes..I would need to give that combination a try.

    • It is so funny, as a kid, there is a lot of food that I dislike and now I enjoy making and eating them. Next time, I will add breadcrumbs, Aisasami.

  2. This looks so easy! I’ll have to try this in a few weeks. My mom will be here tomorrow and has a severe seafood allergy so none of this for a while! The tricolor pasta makes it look so fun, I bet I can even convince my boys to eat it.

  3. I love pasta. Don’t like tuna though. Your table is gorgeous by the way. For those of us who don’t like tuna, what would you suggest substituting it for?

  4. This is the perfect time to taste this dish. I’m a little hungry and so thanks for sharing this recipe and preparation instructions.

  5. My son makes a delicious tuna pasta dish too. It is simple to make and really filling. Next time he would want to make some tuna pasta, I will suggest using tri-color pasta. It looks more appetizing with more color.

  6. Tri color pastas are definetely my twins fav! I have never tried the tuna combination but it looks very delicious! Thank you, I will try!

  7. What a great dish – both quick and hearty! It’s nice to have a convenient option for those busy weeknights where I don’t have a lot of time to cook.
